Youth and Children
Friday Night Youth
At our youth club, we seek to offer young people a safe space to come and have fun. We aim to provide a variety of games and activities and build friendships with all who attend, because we believe that good youth work starts with good relationships.
Our regular activities include a mini Olympics competition every half term, pool, table tennis, cooking and more than a few evenings where food is a major factor!
Access Newham
Access Newham is a youth event that aims to bring young people together from churches across Newham. Each event includes a time of sung worship, a talk from a speaker (past speakers have included Gavin Calver, head of Youth For Christ, Jason Gardener, Lecturer in Youth Discipleship at the London Institute for Contemporary Christianity and Keira Phyo from Tearfund) and social time aimed at building relationships between those who attend.
Saturday morning football
At the Ascension Football Academy we aim to provide a safe environment where youngsters can improve their football skills through Football Association qualified coaching. The youngsters not only improve their football skills but the coaches are also committed to enhancing their personal development through teaching them life skills.
We also host week-long “Soccer Schools” at least once a year where we are joined by a team from Ambassadors In Sport as we teach skills, encourage teamwork and share with our members some stories from the Bible that we believe can help us not just to be better at our football, but also in how we live our lives.
Sunday morning youth and children's groups
In our Sunday morning groups we look at what the Bible can teach us about who God is and how He wants to get to know us, through His Son, Jesus Christ. We try to do this in a fun and interactive way and are not against getting answers from people by bribing them with sweets.
